Follow the unfolding story of how our Vincentian heritage grew into a movement of love in action, shaped by pivotal events and inspired by the charism of St Vincent de Paul.

Beginning of the Daughters of Charity
In 1633, St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac founded the Daughters of Charity in Paris, France.

Deaths of St Vincent de Paul & St Louise de Marillac
In 1660, the Daughters of Charity faced a year of profound loss, as both their co-founders, St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac, passed away, leaving behind a lasting legacy of service and compassion.

First Daughters of Charity in Great Britain
In 1847, the Daughters of Charity expanded their compassionate outreach by arriving in Great Britain, marking a significant milestone in our mission to serve those in need across the world.

43 Houses in Great Britain
By 1900, the Daughters of Charity had established a significant presence in Great Britain, with 43 mission houses actively serving the needs of communities across the region.

Marillac Sanatorium Opens
The Daughters arrived in Warley on 19 November 1920 and, less than a year later, opened the Marillac Sanatorium on 8 September 1921 to care for people with tuberculosis.

A New Chapter of Charity: The Daughters' Arrival in Australia
In 1926, the Daughters of Charity from Great Britain expanded their mission of compassion and service by establishing new communities in Australia.

St Joseph’s Services Founded
In Edinburgh, the Daughters established St Joseph’s Services to provide care and support for adults with learning disabilities.

Vincentian Care Plus Launched
In 2004, after recognising the need for value-based home care for older people, the Daughters established Vincentian Care Plus.

Out There Opens
In September 2006, Out There began helping families stay connected with imprisoned relatives and easing the harmful effects of imprisonment on innocent family members.

DCS Founded
The Daughters of Charity in Great Britain founded DC Services to continue their mission of care and support.

The Space Launched
In January 2013, the Daughters opened The Space in Govanhill, Glasgow—one of Scotland’s poorest and most diverse neighbourhoods—offering welcome, listening, and support.

The Louise Project Formed
In 2017, building on the impact of The Space, the Daughters and trustees founded The Louise Project to help families overcome poverty and transform their community.

Province of Rosalie Rendu
In 2020, marking a significant milestone, the communities of the Daughters of Charity in Great Britain and Australia reunited to form the Rosalie Rendu Province.
